LOW WATER LEVEL DRIES 2000 TUBE-WELLS IN QUETTA

The underground level of water in Quetta has gone down alarmingly low as its pumping cost has almost gone out of the reach of the common man, which residents fear will turn it into a ghost town.

The underground water level has receded from an earlier level of 150 feet to 450 to 1000 feet over past many years which has led to drying up at least 2000 tubewells and hundreds of hand pumps, said a leading geoscientist and chairman Balochistan Geoscientists Association (BGSA) Razaq Khan Khilji in an interview recently.
